Fell Charter School Honored by State for Academic Achievements
for Fifth Year in a Row

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has honored the Fell Charter School of Simpson with its fifth consecutive Keystone Achievement Award in recognition of Fell’s outstanding academic performance.

“We are once again thrilled to have earned this very prestigious honor. This is an on-going testimony to our successful and rigorous academic program,” noted Principal Mary Jo Walsh.

The Keystone Achievement Award is given to a public school that has achieved Adequate Yearly Progress for two consecutive years. AYP is determined in part by a school’s performance on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA), the standardized test given annually to students in grades 3 through 8 and 11.

Education Secretary Gerald L. Zahorchak said the award is a testament to the tremendous efforts of the students, teachers and staff at Fell Charter School.

“We have set high academic expectations in Pennsylvania, and the students of Fell Charter School have responded in an impressive way,” he said.

“If there is one award that a school should proudly show off to visitors, it is the Keystone Achievement Award,” said Secretary Zahorchak. “It is proof to all who visit the school that they are at in institution that cares about ensuring every child succeeds.”

Fell Charter School is open to all students. It is a tuition-free public charter school located in Simpson, Pennsylvania.
