Birney Preparatory Academy

In 2009, the School District of Philadelphia launched a five year commitment, called Imagine 2014, to creating excellence, equity and accountability within their schools district.  Part of this five year strategic plan involved matching struggling schools with turnaround management organizations to quickly improve the failing schools.   Mosaica Turnaround Partners was chosen to take over Birney Elementary School.

On July 1st, 2011, Mosaica officially took control of the school’s facilities. We are very proud to have appointed Shelley Jallow as Regional Vice President and Dr. Bernard James as Principal and Chief Academic Officer. We welcome you to learn more about this historic event.
