John Q. Porter, President of Mosaica Turnaround Partners

John Q. Porter is President of Mosaica Turnaround Partners (“MTP”), an education consulting group that bringing positive, sustainable change to underperforming schools. MTP does this by consistently and collaboratively creating measurable improvement plans, staff development and deep consulting knowledge to improve both academic achievement and school operations.

Mr Porter leads MTP’s initiative to improve the performance of  some of the lowest-performing schools across the nation and internationally. Mr. Porter’s background includes extensive experience in school management.  He is the former Superintendent of Oklahoma City Public Schools, a 40,000-student school district with 6,000 employees. His experience there included management of a majority-minority district (78% minority with 88% eligible for free and reduced lunch) where Hispanics represent the largest minority group.  As Deputy Superintendent and Chief Information Officer of Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, Mr. Porter oversaw the professional development, technology, and accountability departments for a district with over 140,000 students and 22,000 employees. Mr. Porter is a graduate of the Broad Academy for Superintendents, holds a certificate from the Public Education Leadership Program at Harvard University (Harvard Business School and Harvard Graduate School of Education), and a Juris Doctorate from Ohio State University.
