Wendy Farrell Named Teacher of the Year by OAPCS!

Congratulations to Columbus Preparatory Academy teacher, Wendy Farrell, who was named Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools this past Friday!

Wendy joined Mosaica Education in 2006 where she has been teaching 6th Grade mathematics at Columbus Preparatory Academy in Ohio. She is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where she competed in Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track while earning a degree in Middle Childhood Education. This past year she additionally obtained her Master’s from Otterbein College.

Today Wendy took time out to answer some questions for us!

Q: What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe education should instruct all students in a way that creates equal opportunities regardless of students race of socio-economic status. It should influence the students’ perspective of the world by confronting racial stereotypes in and outside of the curriculum and classroom environment. Students instructed under this educational system will view the world from multiple perspectives rather than from the viewpoint they grew up with. Furthermore, education should create life-long learners. Introductions to subjects therefore must ignite curiosity and encourage further exploration. The combination of these opportunities and support from myself will help develop your child into an insightful, critical and productive member of society.

Q: What do you love most about working for Mosaica Education – Columbus Preparatory Academy?

What I love most about working for CPA/Mosaica is the supportive nature of the staff and the ability to collaborate with others. At CPA, we view each other as family members who look out and help one another. Though we are all very competitive, we know that we win as a team and lose as a team. It takes everyone’s best effort to be successful so no one is left behind.

Q: What message do you have for other educators who are considering employment with Mosaica Education?

Mosaica has a vast network of teachers across the country that you are able to work and collaborate with.

Thank you, Wendy and congratulations!
